Stephanie Adams is a Leo, born
July 24, 1970. Adams was born in New Jersey and raised in New York
City. Adams is an exotic mix of Black, White and American Indian,
(with an ethnic background in Cherokee, English, Italian and
Egyptian).
According to her Playboy
pictorial, Adams is the direct descendant of two U.S. presidents,
John Adams and John Quincy Adams. John Adams (the second President
of the United States of America) and John Quincy Adams (the sixth
President of the United States of America) were both outstanding
forefathers who gave all of their children (including those who
were born out of wedlock) their last name and ownership of land.
That (along with the fact that Stephanie Adams is part Native
American) explains why Adams comes from a family that owns over
4000 acres of land in various parts of the United States of
America.
Adams was raised from birth by
her aunts, who were both former models (Joyce was a runway model
as well as a cover girl for Wella and Pearl was a pin-up model in
the 60s). At the age of 16, her aunts convinced her to also start
a career in modeling.
Adams was signed first to
Wilhelmina Models while completing her dual bachelor's degree in
Business Management and Marketing at Fairleigh Dickinson
University, and then signed to Elite Model Management by John
Casablancas. In spite of a vigorous agenda and successful modeling
career, Adams still managed to obtain a Bachelor of Science.
During the time she attended
college, Adams also graduated from the Ophelia DeVore School of
Charm, where she developed her skills and desire for public
speaking. Her love for the arts (writing and painting) as well as
her desire to pursue a career in business had to be put on hold
due to her demand in the modeling industry.
At some point, photographs of
Adams taken during a photo shoot for an international poster were
sent to Playboy by the photographer (with her permission)
"for fun". However, Playboy received the photos and took
her being a centerfold very seriously. Being that Adams always
admired the beautiful and artistic qualities of Playboy
photography and viewed posing in Playboy as "every bad girl's
dream and every good girl's fantasy", she accepted the
invitation to appear at the Playboy Mansion, but declined to
appear in the magazine. Eventually Adams realized what an honor it
would be to pose in the magazine and finally accepted the offer to
pose for Playboy.
Shortly after doing photo shoots
for companies such as Seventeen, Venus Swimwear and Clairol, Adams
became Playboy's "Miss November 1992". Adams was dating
the founder and CEO of Elite Model Managament (John Casablancas)
at that time and he appeared with her in one of the feature photos
for her pictorial.
Adams later appeared in numerous
Playboy international centerfold editions and videos, as well as a
cameo appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman on behalf
of Playboy. At some point during her Gay Rights activism, she
appeared as an LGBT spokesmodel on the cover of the Village Voice
and was voted the "Best Lesbian Sex Symbol" in New York
City.
Before dating Casablancas, Adams
was in a relationship with Ted Stephenson, one of the first male
supermodels for Calvin Klein. After dating Casablancas, Adams
married an Italian investment banker, whom she subsequently
divorced. (To this day, he considers her to be the love of his
life.) Adams then dated other prominent New York City men,
including famous ones such as Robert De Niro. Soon after ending a
long term relationship around that time, Adams was seen around
town with LGBT notables such as comedian Marga Gomez and rock star
Joan Jett. Adams always spoke highly of her past love interests,
including record label founder and CEO Bob Chiappardi.
Adams had once commented
regarding her romantic life that she was a "Playboy trapped
in a Playmate's body." Since then, Adams dated a high-profile
attorney as well as a controversial financier, but broke up with
both due to her getting more seriously involved with a well-known
and highly reputable doctor in the medical industry. Soon after
announcing their engagement, Adams married, later had a child, and
decided to keep the details of her family life private.
Back in 1999, Adams founded a
new-age company that she named GODDESSY, a portmanteau of
"goddess" and "odyssey". Following the death
of her aunt from breast cancer on July 24, 2003, the day that
should have been a birthday celebration, Adams decided to quit
modeling full-time and dedicate most of her time towards writing.
Eventually, GODDESSY also became the title of a series of
astrology, new age, spiritual and metaphysical books written by
Adams. Since then, Adams has authored two dozen books, calendars
and tarot, in addition to being a contributing editor of
horoscopes and articles to various publications.
Even though she became a
spokesmodel for an LGBT fashion line and is still featured on
magazine covers as well as a documentary on her life for Women's
Entertainment, Adams prefers to simply be known as "an
author". She continues to make celebrity appearances for
Playboy and continues to be an advocate in the LGBT community,
after giving speeches for several Gay Prides in New York City, and
speaking for reputable empowerment organizations such as Out
Professionals, Heritage Of Pride and Women's Alliance.
Adams has been featured in and
on numerous magazine covers as well as various newspapers such as
New York Post, Daily News, Newsday, etc. as well as TV channels 2
(CBS), 4 (NBC), 5 (FOX), 7 (ABC), 9 (WOR) 11 (WPIX), NY 1 News,
CNN, etc. and other media such as Entertainment Tonight, The Late
Show With David Letterman, Playboy TV, etc.
Aside from her active modeling
and writing career, Adams dedicates most of her time investing in
Fortune 500 companies, which enabled her to become a self-made
millionaire before the age of 30. Now Adams also dedicates most of
her time towards philanthropy, and continuing to enjoy as much of
a private life as she can possibly have with her husband and son.
Famous Quotes By Stephanie
Adams:
"I've never really cared
about how others see me as much as I care about how I see myself
when I look in the mirror." (Poster for Gay Pride)
"If you focus too much on
the fools, you will eventually become one..." (Personal
Quote)
"I'm a playboy trapped in a
playmate's body." (Interview with Playboy)
"Posing in Playboy is every
bad girl's dream and every good girl's fantasy." (Interview
regarding Playboy)
"It took the death of
someone I love in order for me to learn how to live." (On the
death of her Aunt Joyce, July 24, 2003)
"Live your life today
because there is no guarantee of tomorrow. Live your life tomorrow
without any regrets for today. If I had a chance to do it all
again, I would have done it all the same way. I have no
regrets." (Speech for Gay Pride on NY1 News)
"If you try to get control
over it, it will take control over you. If you try to make it
work, it will make you work even harder for it. If you no longer
believe in it, you will no longer believe that you deserve it.
Here's to love, and the madness that comes along with it."
(Excerpt from book entitled "Empress")
"I did not get to where I
am in life by being weak and allowing others, who are weak, try
and 'break' me. These men are in fact powerless cowards hiding
behind an honorable badge and I will not stop until justice has
been served..." (On the NYPD incident, May 25, 2006)
"We all possess the magical
ability to enhance our lives and make whatever we wish for to come
true. Just like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, magic is in
the mind of the believer." (About GODDESSY)
"Don't ever underestimate
my kindness for weakness. I have a heart of gold, but the strength
of titanium." (Personal Quote)
"Belief is only the
beginning..." (Quote for GODDESSY)
